How to Update Ledger Firmware
Keeping your Ledger firmware up to date is essential for security and new features. Firmware updates fix vulnerabilities, add support for new coins, and improve performance.
Before You Update
- Make sure you have your 24-word recovery phrase accessible
- Ensure your device has sufficient battery (Nano X/Flex/Stax)
- Close all other applications that might interfere
- Use a reliable USB connection (avoid USB hubs)
How to Update
Open Ledger Live and go to Settings > My Ledger. If an update is available, you will see a notification. Click "Update firmware" and follow the instructions. The process typically takes 5-10 minutes.
After the Update
After a firmware update, you may need to reinstall your apps. Your accounts and balances are not affected - they are on the blockchain, not the device. Simply reinstall needed apps through Ledger Live Manager.
